Short Stories, Essays, Serial Fiction, & More!

Use this page to find links to my independently published books. My first is What I Learned: Stories, Essays, and More collecting the work I did while at the University of Pittsburgh thanks to the G.I. Bill. The book collects a series of literary short fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction essays. (Also, if you were part of the writing gang at Pitt, your name is in the book somewhere.)

The second book is Tales of Adventure & Fantasy-Book One the first in a series of inter-connected short stories set in a superhero universe of my own creation. Some of the character archetypes are familiar, others were dreamed up by a little kid who just couldn't get enough comic book stories.

My third book is Swords, Spaceships, and Superheroes: Essays and Criticism from the Golden Age of Movies and Television. It's a collection of more than 250 essays, reviews, and articles published here and there online over the past 15 years. In them, I cover the age of Peak TV and Geek TV. I devote sections to Marvel movies and television series, the DC Universe of films and shows, classic and modern Star Trek, and a look at Star Wars in the 21st Century. Also included are sections on the rise and fall of Game of Thrones, an accounting of the Mass Effect games, and LOST, among others.

An Epic Mythological Adventure

Throughout classic myth and modern fiction, story protagonists enter into an incredible and magical world while on a quest for one god or another. The Antagonists exist only to stop them, because the fate of all creation hangs in the balance. A new novel that approaches the Heroes' Journey from the other side.

There are plenty more stories where these came from, with some new titles on the way.
